Port Richmond Trail

The Port Richmond Trail is a 1.5-mile, L-shaped section of Delaware and Allegheny Avenues along the Delaware River in Northeast Philadelphia. The trail serves as a new recreation outlet for cyclists, runners and pedestrians, and connects the local community to the river.

Completed in October of 2013, the Port Richmond Trail is one of the first of many construction projects that is bringing new life to the Delaware Riverfront.

The project added a green buffer and a 12’-wide asphalt, multi-use recreational trail on one side of the street. The landscape utilizes native plant material adapted to urban conditions. The design incorporates over 200 shade and flowering trees, approximately 300 shrubs and 1500 grasses and perennials. The continuous landscape strip has greatly improved growing conditions for the plant material.

The trail has served as the location of DRCC’s past three 5k Races, and is regularly tended by volunteer groups from across the City.
